“Rebooting”

Greetings! Let me give you a quick run down on what’s been happening over the past few months with life stuff:

  • This site was essentially “hacked”. I lost all content in the post before this one and my username/password to administer this site was compromised. That’s what you get for using free - opensource software. I’ve upgraded to a newer version and cleaned up a lot of stuff here. Things should be better.
  • All of the items I listed above took awhile to get working. I’ve been so busy with work over the past couple of months that I just did not have enough time to work on this site. Seeing it “hacked” was very upsetting and it took awhile to get motivated to get it back online.

Just because the site went down, doesn’t mean I have been sitting on my rump. I have been active in rebuilding my church life. During the past few months, a big part of my journey through life had come to an end. I realized that after staying away from the church, being confused about what religion to be a part of, etc., I needed to “come home” so to speak.

So, I began to attend Mass regularly back at my Catholic church. It’s as if a whole new journey has begun; discovering who I am, who God wants me to be, and what I’m supposed to be doing with my life. A huge undertaking!

I’m hoping to begin to share with you what new things I discover, experience, learn, etc. Both good and bad. Being back in the Catholic church as an adult is a wonderful and exciting thing. More to come!

What do you think?

This is a different post for me and this site, but I wanted to get your opinions on this woman. I came across a link with a video clip of the show “Trading Spouses” on FOX. Basically, two families “swap” the mom’s for a week and different games are played, etc. It’s horribly unrealistic and a total waste of time, yet it’s one of those shows where you watch 10 seconds - you’ve watched an hour.

Anyways, the woman in this video clip literally “freaks” out because the house she stayed in was not Christian. As you’ll see, she literally looses her mind because she feels she’s been to the “dark-side”. I wanted to get everyone’s take on this woman. Is this normal behavior when you’ve been exposed to an environment that isn’t Christian? Do you think she’s acting out?

You decide…click here to watch the clip.

New Site!!! Again!!!

It has been a few days since I have posted…as you can see things are slightly different than before! Having this site over at WordPress.com was great, but there were too many things I wanted to do with it and WP.com just wasn’t setup to accommodate me just yet.

Not to take away from WP.com…it’s hands down the best blogging tool out there and it’s still in beta testing! I still have 1 invite left, so if you want it and think that you might actually use it (too many people sign up and never make use of the blog) head over here and drop me a line. :)

Oh, the forums should be online soon…just hang tight are online now!

Catching up and a lesson on Gossip

I’ve been busy over the past few days, so I apologize for the lack of posts from me. I have picked up another book called “The Case for Faith” by Lee Strobel. Although I’m only a chapter into it, I believe this will turn out to be a great book (it rates well at Amazon).

Anyways, back to the important stuff. I’m onto day 21 of 40 of my “journey” to forming a relationship with Christ…and things are going well. I have by no means been perfect (as if I expected anything else?) and most days it’s very hard to stay on track. What amazes me is the absolute truth to the idea that the closer you get to God the more challenged and more tempted you get. Personally there aren’t “new” challenges (yet, I’m sure) to be faced with, rather the challenge is changing the way I “do business” with everyday life stuff…which brings me to my point tonight (hold the applause): Gossip.

Almost all of you have been a contributor or victim of gossip, especially those of you who work. At my place of employment, it seems that gossip is the one thing that fuels people to keep going all day…like a cesspool of jealousy, hatred, and depression. Why then does it make us feel so good inside? Becuase we’re weak. We are human beings and sinners by default. That doesn’t mean it is okay to continue to dabble in the garbage of gossip:

So where does that leave you when you criticize a brother? And where does that leave you when you condescend to a sister? I’d say it leaves you looking pretty silly–or worse. Eventually, we’re all going to end up kneeling side by side in the place of judgment, facing God. Your critical and condescending ways aren’t going to improve your position there one bit. (Romans 14:10, MSG)

There is a good point to this also that you need to remember; People who gossip TO you about others, will also gossip ABOUT you to others. It’s very, very easy to get caught up in talking about others, being in others business, etc., but if you stop and really think about what you’re hearing or saying, does it matter? Does it really matter in the grand scheme of things? I guarantee you it doesn’t, so don’t waste your time. In closing tonight, I’d like to quote a paragraph from Rick Warren’s book:

It’s the Devil’s job to blame, complain, and criticize members of God’s family. Anytime we do the same, we’re being duped into doing Satan’s work for him. (p. 164)

Friendships and Relationships

Greetings! It has been a few days since I have updated and I apologize for that. I’ve been out of town on business and just now had the opportunity to post. You’ll have to forgive me, as I’m struggling to stay awake but I feel that I need to share with you some thoughts, and leave you with a few bible verses to ponder.

Tonight it’s all about friendships and relationships, and the hard work it takes to overcome problems and keep things peaceful between each other. In your life, I’m willing to bet that you have experienced a disagreement or quarrel with a friend or acquaintence at some point. Did you know that these problems can actually keep God from blessing your life? Remeber, life is all about learning to love…even when things aren’t going well. This means that you have to also learn to keep the peace with others:

God blesses those who work for peace, for they will be called the children of God (Matthew 5:9, NLT)

There are many reasons why God wants you to learn the value of peace (maybe the fact that Jesus is the Prince of Peace should have given you a clue!?). One of the most important is that holding resentment is like wasting the gifts and tools that God has given you:

The hot temper of a fool eventually kills him, the jealous anger of a simpleton does her in. (Job 5:2, MSG)

God doesn’t want you wasting away with built up anger or jealousy towards someone. Actually, he wants YOU to be the first one to attack the issue head on…don’t wait for the other person do act upon it, do something about it NOW, first:

If you want God’s blessing on your life and you want to be known as a child of God, you must learn to be a peacemaker. (The Purpose Driven Life, p.153)

One more verse before bed time:

All this comes from the God who settled the relationship between us and him, and then called us to settle our relationships with each other. (2 Cor. 5:18, MSG)
